Course development services

College course development and curriculum services, built to your outline.

We design new post-secondary computing courses and redesign existing ones end to end: textbook, lecture decks, weekly labs, quiz and exam banks, automated marking and an LMS course shell, all aligned to your approved course outline and learning outcomes.

Why courses fall behind

Technology moves faster than the course review cycle.

Most computing courses are not badly designed. They are simply older than the tools they teach. A course redesign brings the content, the assessments and the delivery back in line with what students need for employment.

Signs a course needs a revamp

Slides mention old versions or past dates, labs break when a student misses a week, quiz banks have been shared online, and each section teaches from different materials.

What a redesign changes

Up-to-date content, independent weekly labs, fresh question banks, consistent auto-marking and one shared shell, so every section delivers the same course.

What stays fixed

Your approved course description, learning outcomes, hours and evaluation weights. We build to them, week by week, so no outline changes are needed.

What you get

Everything a faculty member needs to teach the course.

Choose the full package or only the pieces you need. Every item is written to your course learning outcomes and tested before handover.

Course blueprint

A week-by-week map of topics, readings, labs, quizzes and assessments, checked against the course learning outcomes and evaluation plan.

Original textbook

Chapter-per-week books in plain language for ESL learners, with figures, quick checks and graded problem sets.

Lecture decks

Branded slide decks for every week, written to be reused across semesters with no hard-coded dates.

Weekly labs

Independent labs on starter code, sized to the lab period. See labs and lab manuals.

Quiz and exam banks

Question libraries by chapter in multiple-choice, true/false and fill-in-the-blank formats (or any format you need), plus midterm and final exams, delivered in your LMS’s native import format.

Automated testing and marking

Test suites and marking scripts that check every submission the same way, so students get faster, consistent feedback.

LMS course shell

A clean D2L Brightspace shell (Start Here, Lecture, Lab, Assignments, Exams, Quizzes) tested in a sandbox and reusable every term.

Course hosting

Hosted Jupyter notebooks and student web hosting accounts, ready on day one. See course hosting.

Ways to work with us

New course, course revamp or instructor kit.

Most projects fit one of three shapes. The free course review tells you which one fits and how long it takes.

New course development

Launch a course that has an approved outline but no materials yet. We build the full course from the blueprint up, released a week at a time if the term has already started.

Course revamp

Keep what works, rebuild what does not. We audit the current materials against the outline, then replace outdated content, labs and banks.

Instructor kit

One consistent set of decks, labs, quizzes, exams and LMS imports for a multi-section teaching team, so every section teaches the same course.

Process

From course outline to live course in five steps.

Faculty stay involved at every step. We recommend a subject expert from your side reviews each week before release.

01

Course review

We read the outline, outcomes, current materials and student feedback.

02

Weekly blueprint

You approve a week-by-week map of topics, labs and assessments.

03

Build

Textbook, decks, labs and question banks, released a week at a time if needed.

04

Sandbox test

Every import is tested in an LMS sandbox before it touches the live course.

05

Handover

Faculty guide, hosted accounts ready, and support through the first term.

Recent work

  • Introduction to Web Development: revamp with a new HTML, CSS and JavaScript textbook, period-sized labs and student web hosting
  • Applied Data Science with Python: new course with a textbook, lecture decks, hosted Jupyter notebooks and question libraries
  • Advanced Web Programming (PHP and MySQL): lab redesign replacing a cumulative lab app with independent weekly labs
  • Object-Oriented Programming (C#): twelve-chapter instructor kit with question banks, exams and LMS imports

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do you work from our approved course outline?

Yes. The approved course description, learning outcomes, hours and evaluation weights are the specification. We do not change them; we build materials that deliver them.

Which learning management systems do you support?

We build primarily for D2L Brightspace, with native imports for quizzes, question libraries and course content. If your college uses another LMS, ask us about the formats it accepts.

What formats do slides and question banks come in?

Lecture slides come as editable decks and PDFs. Quiz and exam questions are written as multiple-choice, true/false and fill-in-the-blank, or in any other format you need, ready to import into your LMS.

Can you build the course while it is being taught?

Yes. Materials can be released one week at a time, ahead of each class, so a new course can launch on schedule.

Can our faculty be involved?

We encourage it. A subject expert from your department reviewing each week gives you materials that match how your program teaches.

How long does a course take to develop?

It depends on scope: a full new course with a textbook takes longer than a lab redesign. The free course review gives you a timeline for your course.

Who owns the course materials?

Ownership and licensing are agreed in writing before work starts.

Have a course that needs to be built or rebuilt?

Send us the outline. In a free 30-minute review we will tell you what we would keep, what we would rebuild and how long it takes.
